History

The Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB) is a platform that provides an opportunity for biotechnology stakeholders to network, share knowledge and experiences, and, explore new avenues of bringing the benefits of biotechnology to the African farmer and investor.

OFAB Chapters
The first OFAB chapter was launched in Nairobi, Kenya in September 2006. A collaborative initiative between the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) Africenter, the Kenyan chapter has paved way for the launch of two other chapters in Africa.

The Uganda Chapter was launched in December 2007 and is a collaborative venture between AATF, Uganda National Council of Science and Technology (UNCST) and the Programme for Biosafety Systems (PBS).

The Nigeria Chapter of the Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) was launched in April 2009. The chapter is hosted by the National Biotechnology Development Agency of Nigeria (NABDA) and also brings into the collaboration the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).(PBS).
